Steven Mogck - Artist Bio

Steven pursued his art education and focused on illustration at The Joe Kubert School of Cartoon Graphics in Dover, New Jersey.  He then went on to do a pin-up for Marvel Comics which appeared in Marvel Action Hour #4 in 1993.  Steven was inspired by the New York City experience and eventually moved to NYC in 1998 to attend Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York and refine his illustration skills. 

While in New York, Steven did freelance work for The Shooting Gallery and Bigel Mailer Films as a storyboard artist for various movies and commercials including the film “Empire” starring actor John Leguizamo in 2001.   

In 2005 Steven moved to West Chester, Pennsylvania and became an active member of The Chester County Art Association. 

In July of 2008 one of Steven’s works was chosen by Juror Rachel Vancelette of The Gladstone Gallery in New York City, for the 51st Annual Chautauqua National show.  In November of 2008, Steven was one of fifty nationally selected artists chosen by juror Asher Miller of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City for the show New Directions ‘08.  

Steven had a solo show at The Chester County Art Association in September of 2009.  He was one of twenty artists selected to display their work in the “Art in City Hall: Paper Works!” exhibition in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from October 2009 to January 2010. Over the last three years Steven has been part of various group and solo shows at The James Oliver Gallery in Philadelphia.

In September 2010 Steven was part of a two-person show at The Serpentine Gallery in West Chester, Pennsylvania. In October 2010 Steven was one of sixty nationally selected artists chosen by juror Nat Trotman of The Guggenheim Museum of Art in New York City for the show New Directions 2010, Poughkeepsie, NY.

In March 2011 Steven was one of twenty-one artists selected by The City Hall Exhibitions Committee in Philadelphia PA for the group exhibition “Something French”.

In the summer of 2011 Steven was selected by juror Jim Kempner of Jim Kempner Fine Art in New York City for the 54th Annual Chautauqua Exhibition of Contemporary Art .

Since 2012 Steven has been included in three group shows at The Bridgette Mayer Gallery, The James Oliver Gallery and The Art in City Hall Galleries in Philadelphia, PA.

Steven’s paintings are included in various private and public collections including NFL Films, The Barrett Art Center and Three Lincoln Center in New York City.

Celebrities and Sports figures who own Steven’s paintings include Harvel Keitel, Goldie Hawn, Ernest and Tova Borgnine, Anthony Kiedis, Chase and Jennifer Utley and Jack Nicklaus.
